Casa Masó to be presented as a case study at the ICOM regional museums conference in Norway

Tuesday, September 1, 2026

The symposium will focus on "Living Heritage in Living Landscapes: Place, Practice and Regional Identity"

The 2026 ICOM-ICR Annual Conference (the ICOM Committee dedicated to regional museums), "Living Heritage in Living Landscapes: Place, Practice and Regional Identity," will bring together museum professionals, researchers, and cultural practitioners from around the world in southern Norway from September 21 to 24 to explore the relationship between people, place, and regional identity. Held in the cities of Kristiansand and Arendal, the symposium will combine presentations, discussions, museum visits, and cultural experiences that highlight how heritage continues to shape and reflect living communities. Throughout the week, participants will engage with museums, coastal traditions, industrial heritage, and cultural landscapes, while building international connections within the ICR network.

Casa Masó will take part in the Case Studies section with a presentation by Jordi Falgàs, director of the Fundació Rafael Masó, entitled "Casa Masó as a Case Study: Balancing International Tourism and Local Commitment." Falgàs will explain the strategies implemented by the Fundació Rafael Masó to combine visits to Casa Masó aimed at international visitors with its commitment to maintaining a relevant and engaging programme for local audiences-a public that has undergone considerable social change in recent years.
