The article is part of the dossier on Antoni Gaudí featured in the magazine's October issue
The October issue of Serra d'Or features a dossier on Antoni Gaudí entitled "Gaudí: Other Perspectives." It includes "An (Forgotten) Poem by Masó about Gaudí," an article by Jordi Falgàs, Director of the Foundation. The dossier also features contributions by Pilar Vélez, "Other Perspectives on Gaudí and the Sagrada Família"; Mireia Freixa, "The Sagrada Família as a Paradigm"; and Joan Isart, "Francesc Pujols' Gaudí."
Masó's poem dedicated to Gaudí was previously known only in part and is now being published in full for the first time since 1903. Entitled "Allegory of the Catechism of the Sagrada Família," it was first published in the annual catalogue of the Marian Congregation of the Jesuits of Barcelona.
At the time, Masó was 22 years old and studying architecture in Barcelona. He was also vice-president of the Congregation's Catalan Academy, founded in 1891 to promote the study of Catalan history and language. Masó was a member of the Congregation's Catechetical Section and carried out his work at the parish of the Sagrada Família, an activity he describes in the poem.
