A-level
The Casa Masó literary route, which presents excerpts written by Rafael Masó and other writers that relate directly to some of the spaces and objects in the house. As well as excerpts from the writings of Miquel de Palol, Eugeni d'Ors, Josep M. López Picó and Josep Pla, with special emphasis placed on the writings of Josep Carner, a Noucentista author and contemporary of Rafael Masó.
Few spaces have preserved the essence of their past as intensely as the rooms in Casa Masó. The presence of domestic architecture, furniture and personal belongings and, above all, the documentary record, make it possible to recover episodes that have become part of Catalonia's cultural history of the first third of 20th century.
For some years at Casa Masó, the family celebrations which, as in all the homes in Girona province, were organised for All Saints Day, as well as the gathering of parents, siblings and other members of the family, Rafael Masó's friends from Barcelona, young acquaintances that we now include among the clearest representatives of Catalan literature in general and particularly from the Noucentisme period.
The students are invited to experience the character of the place through the house's records and to organise a literary visit in which they become the protagonists. To do so, depending on the number of students, they are divided into groups and one of the selected texts is distributed among the group with a brief biography on the author and the chosen work. They must choose a reader who will read the text aloud. The reader will be distinguished with a special item of clothing such as a hat or a shawl.
At the same time, they will be able to take notes and photographs or record videos of the house and the visit so they can prepare any subsequent work they wish to do.
The visit will involve subsequent work in preparing a document based on the students' experience. It may be a fictional account inspired by the house, a poem, a poetic prose, a description or a book trailer based on one of the texts which they worked on. It is important that students know about this phase from the beginning so that they can pay special attention to certain details and even take photos to use in preparing their piece of work.
