The installation is part of a cycle of exhibitions that can be seen in different exhibition spaces in Girona.
Girona has organized a cycle of exhibitions dedicated to the painter Vicenç Huedo, who occupies an essential place in the artistic landscape of the city. The exhibition can be seen in eight cultural venues across Girona, making it the most extensive exhibition project ever held in the municipality and a clear example of cultural, institutional, and civic coordination.
The aim of this exhibition, as highlighted by its curators Kim Bover and Carme Sais, is to present Vicenç Huedo in his entirety, exploring his work in greater depth, especially by showing series that had until now remained unpublished, such as poetic natural landscapes, drawings of vegetal textures, and the enigmatic "calamicleos." Thus, the exhibition avoids a chronological and anthological narrative and is instead organized into different thematic chapters in relation to each space, seeking a kind of affinity with each of them.
The exhibition cycle allows visitors to discover texture drawings at the Valvi Foundation; natural landscapes at the Casa de Cultura; magical realism at the Fita Foundation; the purest drawing at the La Mercè Cultural Center; the houses of the Onyar at Casa Masó; architectural details at the Architects' Association; automatic or cryptographic drawing at the Art Museum; and altruistic and critical works at the Museum of the History of Girona. Today, January 29, the exhibitions at Casa Masó will open at 6:00 p.m., followed by the opening at the La Mercè Cultural Center at 7:00 p.m.
At Casa Masó, "Houses of the Onyar in Counter-Mirror" (from January 29 to March 28) focuses on one of Girona's most emblematic motifs. The houses along the Onyar River are Vicenç Huedo's best-known pictorial subject among the general public. In parallel, at the La Mercè Cultural Center, "Astuteness of Objectivity" (from January 29 to March 27) explores drawing and painting from an academic and teaching perspective, but also as a field of free representation. The exhibition brings together studies, academic exercises, life drawing of both the male and female nude, still life, portraiture, and up to 100 ways of drawing a tree.
From January 29 onwards, in order to visit the exhibition of paintings by Vicenç Huedo, it will be necessary to purchase a ticket to visit Casa Masó, as the works are displayed along the guided tour route of the house museum.
